James was born to Diane and Marco Huston on the Betazoid homeworld of Betazed. James' telepathic powers developed at the early age of 5. His parents taught him to block out the thoughts of others and how to read the minds of others, but only with their permission. Little did James' parents know that James had rare talent of telekinesis. As a boy he liked to fiddle with machinery and build model starships. In was not until the age of 13 that James' telekinetic powers began to mature, and James began to use them. He was sent to Vulcan to be taught how to use is unusual powers. Soon after arriving on Vulcan, James' teachers were perplexed by the fact that James could use his powers without even knowing how he did it. When his training finished, James returned to Betazed where he was given a welcome home party, and finished his normal schooling.

Even as a young boy, James knew that he wanted to go to the famed Starfleet Academy when he got out of school. When he graduated from school, he immediately sent his application to the academy. He was overjoyed when he received an appointment to take the entrance exam at the Starfleet offices of Betazed. He took the exam and passed with flying colors. He got an appointment almost immediately and he just as quickly went to earth to attend the academy. Starfleet Academy:

While at the academy, James majored in exobiology, Xenobiology, and natural medicines. He participated in several of the strategy clubs including the famed strategema team. He also was appointed to a special forces team that was sent on several currently classified missions. He also acquired his piloting license while participating with the team. He graduated in the top 10% of the class.

After James graduated, he was sent on several more missions with the special forces. Immediately after that, he was appointed as the Assistant Medical Officer onboard the USS Darmok. One week after its launch, James joined the Darmok at Deep Space Nine. He has served as both AMO and CMO on the Darmok. On SD9806.02, James' fiancee Amy was killed in a terraforming accident on one of Betazed's moons. In the aftermath, James took a four month shoreleave to morn her loss and eventually returned to the Darmok as a changed man. He has now become more involved in his work with the special forces team, which he is now in command of, and became more involved in his work than ever before. On Stardate 9902.17, James resigned his commission with Starfleet Medical and transferred his Regular Starfleet commission to Starfleet Intelligence and assumed full-time command of the "Berets". Shortly thereafter, James was promoted to Lt. Colonel from Major to prepare him to take command of the group when its status was changed. On Stardate 9903.10 the 5th Special Operations Group, nicknamed the "Berets" was disbanded and then restructured and reactivated as the 1st Starfleet Expeditionary Force, nicknamed the "Big Red One" after a World War 2 army that members compared themselves to. The SEF was immediately assigned to the 3rd Fleet which was operating in the Alpha Quadrant against the Jem'Haddar. The unit served it's 3 month tour with distinction, and then returned to Earth for leave and overhaul. During his short stay on Earth, James received a promotion to Colonel to compensate for the further expansion of the 1st SEF's force size to 38 ships and 3 battalions. James then received orders from Starfleet Command to rejoin the Darmok in the Gamma Quadrant after a short stay at DS9 for a ride to the ship. He was disappointed when he learned that he would not be able to retain his original rank of First Lt., but would return at the rank of Lt. He accepted this and promptly departed for his old "Home away from Home".

James returned to the Darmok and served for nearly a year as the ship's helm officer before being called away again on a mission. During this mission, James was instrumental in a sting operation designed to help Starfleet locate and then cripple the Orion Syndicate criminal organization. Upon his return to the Darmok, James was much more sedate and eventually accepted a transfer within the SEF to become their advisor to Starfleet Command instead of their Commanding Officer to allow James to follow his career in Starfleet instead of the SEF and Starfleet Intelligence. From SD0202.15 to SD0205.17, James served a semester at Starfleet Academy as and instructor, however he was recalled to duty with the Darmok following attacks on several Federation outposts, which required him to rejoin the Darmok to lend his experience and knowledge to solving the dilemma of whom was perpetrating these attacks and why. During the recent Vulcan Secession Crisis, James was part of the team from the USS Darmok that infiltrated to the planet and released the Vulcan High Council from their captivity. After the Vulcan crisis, James was part of a group from the Darmok who were to attend a Science Symposium on Argus III. When the team arrived on Argus III, James and the other members were gassed and had a Borg chip implanted at the base of their skull that suppressed their memories and created new people. As Ton Lenar, James spent nearly a month as a Medical Researcher at the Argus Medical Research Hospital where he interacted with several of his fellow Darmok crewmates without knowing and even was responsible for saving Admiral Johannson's legs by growing new arteries for her severely injured legs. James was discovered by Admiral Johannson when he stopped by to check up on her and he was returned to the Darmok where the chip was removed and his memories returned. During the days after returning to James Huston, he made the decision to accept an offer that had been on his desk since before he left for Argus III. James accepted a promotion to Commander and the Executive Officer's position on the USS Sojourner, a Nebula-class starship exploring the Gamma Quadrant, the place where James got his trial by fire as a Doctor and an officer on the Darmok so many years before.

On Stardate 0306.10, James arrived at Deep Space Nine to await the arrival of the Sojourner on SD0306.14. After a short 6 month stint on the Sojourner, during which several major conflicts were averted within the Gamma Quadrant, the Sojourner and its crew were ordered to return to Earth for the first time in many years. After the departure of Captain Adam Android on an Ambassadorial assignment, James led the crew back to Earth, but not before the ship received major damage from an encounter with a new race which posessed Partical Projection Cannons, a very powerful weapon that could prove to be a major threat to the Federation and its allies in all quadrants in the near future if this race chose to begin attacking those around it.

On Stardate 0401.01, James was officially transferred to the USS Maverick, one of the first Prometheus class ships built. It was his distinct pleasure to learn that an old acquaintace, Hardin Davik, would be the CO of his new ship. Along with most of the former Sojourner crew, James hopes that this new ship and its new mission, to protect the Federation and its allies from the Breen, will result in many more adventures in a life that so far has few regrets.

James is generally outgoing and works well with groups. He rarely holds grudges against anyone and doesn't fight unless there is no other option. However in the last few months, James has become increasingly unstable and irritable after all that has happened in the last year.

James seems to have "moved on" with his life and is now functioning normally, however has not been venturing into the romantic realm which may be of some concern. It is hoped that he will return to that realm soon.

James has reported having several "flashbacks" to operations on ***Classified Information Removed*** and ***Classified Information Removed*** but seems to not be adversely affected by these events. James has also reported that he has ventured into the romance arena again, but has been unsuccessful due to recent events and his multiple deployments into combat zones. Overall, his emotional state is stable and he seems to be calming down some overall. I suspect that this is due to his maturing as a leader and not because of his experiences in combat. He is genuinely concerned for the well being of his men, and seems to be greatly affected when one is hurt or killed, but does not let these feelings linger or harm his ability to retain control of the situation and maintain his ability to finish the task at hand before reacting to the loss of a life or damage to a life. He realizes that he has a job to do, and while not exactly the prettiest of jobs in Starfleet, he understands that it must be done and everything else can wait a few minutes or hours until the job is done. He is fit for duty, and I cannot wait to see how he performs when he returns from this tour of duty and has some time off.
