USF FLEET REPRESENTATIVE
Fleet Representative
COMMAND:
The Command Team of a sim is responsible for presenting the Sim plot and guiding the crew to find new and creative ways in advancing that plot. The CO and XO are called "Hosts" and are appointed (promoted) by the High Command. The Second Officer usually holds another post on the ship as his Primary Duty, the post of Second Officer is a Secondary Duty. The Second Officer serves as a third Command Officer if one of the other two is out of commission, so that the ship need never suffer for a Command Team. This position is not held by a USF Host, but the "third ranked" person on the ship.
INTELLIGENCE:
The Intelligence Department is charged with collecting, processing, verifying, and dessiminating information on the various races which the Maverick may encounter as it travels. They will need to work closely with the Security/Tactical Department.
MEDICAL/BIOSCIENCES:
The Medical Officers are responsible for the physical health of the crew on a starship. They perform crew physicals and assist injured, battered, and ill people back to health. Often they may be called upon to provide critical on-site bio-analysis of individuals or areas, and to provide first-response medical care, and to these ends they often go on Away Teams. Bioscientists are responsible for gaining knowledge on new species and other scientific interpretations.
OPERATIONS:
The Operations Manager is essentially the overseer and coordinator of most ship functions. They are usually jacks-of-all-trades. Their console is able to control and distribute power to most systems on the ship. They coordinate, correlate, and regulate the ship's departmental functions. Sensor controls and readouts are relayed through the Operations Console, though the interpretation of that data is up to Sciences or Tactical. The Flight Control Officer is the Helmsman and pilots the ship. He/She may also pilot smaller vessels as needed, or fill in as Operations or Security or other department as needed.
SECURITY/TACTICAL:
Security & Tactical Officers aboard starships are responsible for all security, on and off of the ship, and for all weapons, portable and ship-mounted, and for ship's defenses. They provide assistance on Away Teams and escort denizens to the brig. Security Officers also make sure that guests have proper escort and protection. They are also directly responsible for the ship's complement's safety. They are the "military police" of the vessel, acting as armed assault team, rescue squad, guards, and escorts as the need arises.
FLEET REPRESENTATIVE:
Fleet Reps are responsible for hearing all complaints from crew members that deal with the command structure of the sim that are not resolved satisfactorily by the Host team. Before formally approaching the Fleet Rep with a complaint, the complaint must go through the sim's chain of command (CoC). Fleet Reps are responsible for investigating any alleged wrongdoing of a CO or XO to any crew members of his/her sim. This includes, but is not limited to, ignoring complaints made by crew members to their command structure, punishing officers for expressing opinions on the state of the ship and its officers and dismissing an officer from the ship without just cause for doing so.
