Malachi, born March 28, 2368, is one of five children born to April Styles-Fyrstk. Malachi was conceived when a Cardassian scientist had bought April from a slave trader (see April Styles-Fyrstk official record for details). He impregnated April in the hopes of creating a powerful hybrid. April was rescued before Malachi's birth.At the age of two, Malachi was abducted by the same Cardassian scientist. It is unclear what the purpose of the abduction was, or how he was retrieved. The only official records, to date, show his reunion with his mother several months after the abduction, and April's encounter with Section 31. There were no signs of abuse to Malachi, however, experts recognized and diagnosed that Malachi would develop a powerful psionic ability. Though there were no physical signs of abuse, Malachi later experienced memories of his captivity. He vividly remembered being poked and prodded by the scientist, and the "fish-smell" of the scientist's breath. He also saw glimpses from his mother's memories of him being held naked and in a cage no larger than a large Terran dog's pen. At age 13, Malachi went to stay with his adoptive father aboard the U.S.S. Eagle. In addition to his classroom studies, Malachi integrated himself into the Eagle crew, eventually moving into the sciences department for his specialty. In late-2382, Mal was given an acting ensigns rank aboard the ship and put into normal crew rotations. Malachi has served on several away missions. Some of which have taken him into other dimensions, and forward in time to an alternate future where he met his future self, and twin brothers aboard the battered Eagle, which was one of a few remaining Starfleet ships struggling against the T'Kil invaders. Malachi had also developed a very close relationship with Dr. Melody (originally the ship's assistant medical officer then counselor). Dr. Melody abruptly left the Eagle to return to her homeworld without explanation. There was speculation, aboard the ship, of a possible pregnancy, but this was never confirmed. 
Starfleet Academy Days:&nps; In May, 2384, Malachi left the Eagle. He spent two weeks with his mother and siblings, then traveled to Earth. He attended early, summer sessions, at Starfleet Academy. He started officially in the fall of 2384. Some of his class trips took him to places such as Vulcan and Feriginar.During his time at the academy, Malachi made a few friends. One such person, and possibly his best friend, was Daniel Jona. Daniel was a Betazoid, majoring in Medical. Malachi and Daniel shared many adventures. Malachi also played a part in Daniel becoming involved with Dexlona, a friend of Daniel's from his boyhood days.  Hlaoa Zaiba'ny was another. She was a Lagier from the planet Nom. She and fellow Lagier, Okuyan Nucen'os, were admitted to the academy in 2385 as part of an exchange program. During a combat lessons class, Malachi and Hlaoa were paired up. Malachi decided to take advantage of an opportunity when Hlaoa's attention was diverted and bested her. Hlaoa thought this move sneaky and dishonorable and silently vowed vengeance. Malachi and Hlaoa, shared a fondness for dancing. Hlaoa used this commonality to bring her revenge about. She saw that any time she spent in Malachi's company would bring about a reaction from Nucen'os. She increased her time around Malachi, hoping to make Okuyan jealous. The plot culminated when Malachi and Hlaoa were practicing a new dance rnumber in the academy gym. During a dip, Hlaoa placed a kiss on Malachi's cheek. Nucen'os, who had been set up by a false meeting with his fellow Lagier, witnessed the kiss and was sent into a rage. He entered the gym and "pushed" Malachi. The Lagier used the term, "push," to refer to a high energy burst of electricity. The charge, delivered directly to Malachi's chest, propelled him in the air and back against the opposite wall. It also stopped his heart, and resulted in second degree burns on his chest. When they realized what had happened, Nucen'os delivered another jolt to restart Malachi's heart. Malachi's injuries were then treated in the academy's medical ward. Zaiba'ny and Nucen'os were expelled from the academy for assault on a fellow cadet. They were later allowed to return, but had to wear a special shock dampening suit. In January 2386, Malachi was awarded the Starfleet Rescue Operations medal, for his actions at Rigel IV. The planet had come under attack by a Borg-like race. Despite the overwhelming devastation, and fatalities, Malachi maintained constant sensor feeds to all the shuttles and rescue teams working to assist the inhabitants of the planet. 
For the school year 2385-86, the sophmores project was to design a speeder-shuttle to race with. The shuttle had to be completely designed by the cadet. Wanting to come up with a different design, Malachi worked on the specs for Mustang. He had the shuttle built by Aster Enterprises, who specialized in luxury liners and other civilian shuttles. Luktra Fyrstk, Mal's adopted grandfather, worked for Aster, when he was younger, and maintained a close friendship with the shipbuilders. Junior year proved to be no less tumultuous. While on a scientific cruise on the Academy's starship, the U.S.S. Sutherland, the ship was investigating an anomalous storm with highly unusual readings. The storm grew rapidly, suddenly overtaking the Sutherland. The ship was propelled ten years into the future and an alternate time line. In this alternate future, the T'Kil had beaten down Starfleet forces, and taken over the Alpha Quadrant. The Federation, Klingons, Romulans and other races were nothing more than a handful of ships trying to maintain their freedom. Details of the Sutherland's actions, and involvements in this future-verse are highly classified. The cadets were all sworn to the strict silence regarding this entire situation. Malachi did meet a future version of, then, Cadet Ailana Darz, and her sister Adrenna. He then met this universe's version upon their return. Malachi did strike up a friendship with Ailana, despite not being able to tell her about the future-verse happenings. Malachi and Ailana developed a more intimate relationship and during a particularly intimate telepathic contact, Ailana had glimpsed Malachhi's memories Iincluding a rather embarrassing one of her sister and lover). Malachi was forced to tell Ailana about the alternate future and just why those memories existed. In August of 2387, Malachi was summoned to Starbase 292, where his mother was commanding officer. There he learned his mother had been fatally wounded by a Firegon agent. The agent's true objective was to blow up the station to kill "the Enemy's" family. The person they referred to as "the Enemy" was Malachi's father-by-adoption, then, Commodore Lukas Fyrstk. The agent failed in his mission to destroy the station, but did shoot April Styles-Fyrstk, and abduct one of her twin sons, Ronov Fyrstk. Malachi joined his father in tracking down "Ronnie," and rescuing him. After his mother's death, Malachi had decided not to return to the academy, so he could help his father with the children. Then-Commodore Fyrstk insisted Malachi return to classes and finish his senior year. Lukas (Fyrstk) had wanted to resigned his commission and secure a more stable life for his children, but was persuaded to take command of Pasteur Station,Deep Space 21. Malachi returned to the academy. Post GraduationShitaq. He had taken this position after being recommended to it by then provost of the academy, Commander Rhea Janseen. One of the advantages this post held for Malachi, was it kept him close to Earth and to Ailana.In late 2388, after her own graduation, Ailana Darz while home visiting her parents, disappeared into an alternate dimension through a portal created by her father. Malachi spent most of his off time trying to find a way to retrieve his girlfriend, or at least contact her to be certain she was okay. When Malachi, as a lieutenant junior grade, transferred to Starbase Everest, in 2390, he was hoping the equipment aboard the space station would provide him more technological advantages to find her. Just barely two weeks after he had transferred, the station came under attack and was destroyed. Malachi's ever-diligent work in determining the origins of the attacker, and a defense against their weapons led to his early promotion to full lieutenant. In August of 2393 (USF Stardate 201607.24), Malachi was promoted to lieutenant commander and offered the position of acting executive officer of Starbase Everest, which he accepted. In November 2393, Malachi had agreed to a visit from his twin brothers, Rohan and Ronov Fyrstk. As he was awaiting their arrival by commercial transport, the station came under attack by an alien race that abducted the entire crew and put them all in stasis chambers, feeding off their life energies. The crew were all in a dream-state, believing nothing had happened and life was going on as usual. The twins, arriving on a friend's freighter, foundan empty starbase. Rohan Fyrstk was able to tap into Everest's sensor recordings and learned of the alien vessel. They captain of the freighter, immediately put out a distress call to Pasteur Station, and Admiral Fyrstk immediately responded with the station's two starships, Pathfinder and Dauntless. The admiral had also left instructions for the twins to remain at Everest, but they had convinced the freighter captain to pursue the alien ship, citing their father's ships would take more time to arrive then the Everest crew had. The Everest crew, in their dream-state were suddenly confronted with an opening portal and an appearance of an alternate-universe version of themselves. Tensions between the two crews rose as each believed the other was attacking and it was only the intervention, and telepathic contact of the Fyrstk twins that allowed the Everest crew to realize their true dilemma. An awakening of the Everest crew, a fierce battle aboard the alien ship, and a timely arrival of Fyrstk's ships finally turned the fight in the direction of the Starfleet crews of both universes. December 2393, the station detected a suspicious cargo from a freighter. Aftrer a bit of a conflict, they opened the containers and found the freighter was transporting humanoid children in a state of stasis. The children were all revived and were given temporary "parents" aboard the station until a more permanent situation could be found for the children. Several of the families that took in the children, expressed a desire to keep the children and officially adopt them. One of the children, was a male Vulcan/Betazoid hybrid. He initially was assigned a family, but he could easily sense the male partner did not want the boy, who was determined to be thirteen years of age. The boy, Renik, tried shoplifting and wound up in trouble with station security. While he was in the hospital, from a phaser shot administered by an over-zealous ensign, Renik used his telepathic powers to deceive his guards into thinking he was still on the bio-bed when he was sneaking out of the hospital. His escape was interrupted by Malachi who had sensed the telepathic use and came to investigate it. Thus, he met Renik and was begged by Ronov to offer the young teen some foster care. Ronov and Renik had met when Ronov was helping as the kids were all being brought out of stasis. Renik had tried to flee and was tackled by Ronov, who assured him the people on the station were only trying to help. Reluctantly, Malachi agreed to take Renik in temporarily. Over the next year, he had grown to like the boy and worked with him, both academically and socially. In January of 2395, Malachi and Ailana officially adopted Renik. and Meila (another of the "Stasis Kids"), they all moved into one of the family quarters, aboard Everest, to complete their family. A month later, Malachi proposed to Ailana. Prior to the proposal, Ailana was injured when she was checking out some supplies in the cargo hold. She had been caught in close proximity of a explosive device deploying tachyon particles and chromiton particles. Her being was caught in a temporal flux. Soon after this happened, the station came under attack from a ship from the future. A Captain Jared Barrek tried destroying the starbase but only succeeded in pushing it into the past to the mid 2150's. While Captain Darz worked to save her sister, Malachi worked to save the station. After meeting face to face with Barrek, Malachi convinced the captain to work together to close a rapidly opening rift that threatened to wipe out all of space and time. They managed to close the rift, but Barrek's ship, the Avenger, got pulled into the rift, leaving Starbase Everest in the past. A time portal opened up seconds later to reveal a different Captain Barrek with no memory of having dealt with the station and crew. He was simply there to return the starbase to its correct time. In early March, 2395, while the starship Arathi was patroling, they found evidence of three ion storms that had occurred in a certain area. After getting extensive data and sending it back to Everest, it was determined the storms were manufactured. When the Arathi was caught up in yet another of these manufactured storms, Malachi led the rescue efforts as captain of the U.S.S. Infinity. While effecting the rescue, he had Lt. Commander Fray do extensive sensor sweeps for a possible Cardassian ship that he believed was involved. SD 201805.05 - (May, 2395) Malachi and Ailana were married in a ceremony on Starbase Everest. On SD 201807.21: Mal stood as "best man" for the Joining of Ambassador Tikani Kesiun and then Lieutenant junior grade Tiger Sheme. During the reception, Renik and Meila were abducted by Gul Tudat. The Cardassian, whom had been fixated on Malachi, took the children to his secret base, in the middle of an asteroid field. There, he experimented on them, manipulating their dreams, to scenarios he had programmed. Renik, and Meila, worked together to overcome the manipulations, then were able to free themselves. Malachi had led the team, following a trail to the asteroid field. Realizing his base had been discovered, Tudat set it to self-destruct, and escaped. Malachi was able to reach the base, and transported the kids off it, just before it exploded. In 2399, Captain Darz, Dr. Alaina Styles and Meila Styles,returned to Betazoid for a family emergency. Malachi had remained behind, with Renik, because he was, now, acting commander, of the starbase. The women had been on Betazoid, only a couple days, when all contact with them was lost. Malachi was certain his wife was not dead, as he still "felt" her. The Betazoid authorities assured the acting commanding officer they were doing everything, in their power, to find the Darz family. In February of 2400, Malachi was promoted to captain, and given the command of Everest. He, still, maintained that Captain Darz, and in extension his wife Ailana, were still alive, but no traces of them had been found. Styles agreed to take the assignment, but, still, maintained contact with Betazoid authorities. | |
